HubSpot AEO: An Incumbent Prices AI Search Visibility at $50
HubSpot now sells answer engine optimization as a standalone product. When an incumbent productizes a category at $50 a month, the category stops being exotic.
HubSpot AEO is a beta product that tracks how a brand shows up in AI answers across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. You get a brand visibility score, share of voice against competitors, tracking for 25 prompts of your choosing, citation analysis showing which domains and pages the answer engines actually cite, and prioritized recommendations. It costs $50 a month standalone, no HubSpot subscription required, and works regardless of where your site is hosted. HubSpot built it after acquiring XFunnel and running the discipline on its own brand.
The judgment: the interesting part is not the feature list, it is the price and the seller. A wave of startups has been selling AI search visibility as a specialist service. When the incumbent marketing platform ships the same capability as a $50 line item, answer engine optimization stops being exotic and becomes ordinary marketing operations, the way SEO dashboards did a decade ago. For an executive, that reframes the buying question from “should we hire a GEO consultancy” to “which team owns the visibility score.”
One first step: take the 25 included prompts and map them to the questions your highest-revenue segment actually asks an assistant before buying. Measure for a month before spending anything on optimization. The score is a diagnostic, not a strategy, and it is beta software: expect the metrics to move as the engines and the product both change under you.
